I am sitting at my new secretary desk feeling as if I was in a small town in colonial New England versus sunny Florida. Every part of the experience was great from initial discussions and planning to final design, finish choices, and hardware. Even though I was 1,500 miles away, the updates and pictures maintained a connection throughout the process and I was excited to see each step of the process. The delivery of the piece was done extremely well and I was beginning to use the desk within minutes of the driver arriving at my house. All of my electronic devices fit inside perfectly and with one close of the slant front, it looks as though the piece has gone back in time and could be in a museum. Thank you so much for providing the finest piece of furniture that my wife and I currently own and for your patience and craftsmanship. The piece is truly brilliant and I shall enjoy it for many years to come. I have and will continue to recommend your work to anyone in search of a fine piece of furniture.

-"Doucette and Wolfe Furniture Makers made nine fireside benches for me. They used a variety of wood species and finishes, which made for individual character for each bench. I gave the benches as gifts to my siblings and kept one for myself! Matt and Mo are dependable and artistic; the project came in on budget and on schedule. I give Matt and Mo my highest recommendation."

“-It is with continued pleasure that we use the two pieces that Mo and Matt made for us. One is a table that has remedied the most awkward arrangement for a sofa that needed to be set up against a wall. No lamp that I thought might work could last because of either the traffic coming through the door at one end of the sofa or the closet door that is routinely used at the other end. I needed a table between the wall and sofa. It needed to be skinny and long and just the right height to fit perfectly for the lamp, box of tissues and framed pictures. Mo and Matt not only listened to exactly what our needs were but they were also sensitive to what other types of furniture and woods were part of our home. It is a stunning table made of cherry with tapered legs that serves its purpose behind our sofa but can also stand on its own if we ever needed to move it.”
“Mo and Matt also designed and made a box that sits on a cherry table in our living room. It is also made out of cherry and has a beautiful inlay of a loon on one side; it has a shelf inside. There is a sliding panel that hides a projector we use to watch movies with. Most importantly, it is the perfect size for not only the projector to fit into the top compartment but ALL of its cords fit into the bottom compartment. When we pull the projector out, it sits on top of the box and is at the correct height to project the images on the opposite wall. Mo and Matt were sensitive to all of the variables we needed to be met for the box to work and they came through beautifully. No more stacking of books and dictionaries to create the same pedestal and we never have to put our projector in the closet anymore. How perfect is that. What's more, the box is a piece of art and we get many compliments for it. Many thanks, again !!”

personal style and become heirloom pieces, Doucette and Wolfe
Furniture Makers come with our highest recommendation. They
listened to our “wish list” and developed pieces of furniture that
completely met our needs functionally and exceeded our expectations
in quality, craftsmanship and design. Doucette and Wolfe kept us
informed throughout the process with e-mails, phone contact, videos
and pictures so we could not only follow the process but comment
along the way to insure the finished product had the features and
the look we wanted even though it was not convenient for us to visit
during the process. Not only is their craftsmanship unequaled (based
on extensive research prior to choosing Doucette and Wolfe), but
they were able to translate our less-than-articulate dream into exactly
what we wanted in our pieces. Matt and Moriah are so easy to work
with, flexible with timing and happily delivered our pieces and set
them up. These pieces will be a part of our family for generations.
We are looking forward to working with Matt and Moriah again
and are currently considering another project for our home.
Thank you, Matt and Mo, for giving us truly beautiful pieces that
complement our home to perfection!

"After the fantastic results of our first commissioned work with Doucette and Wolfe Furniture Makers, we were very excited to undertake another project. The slant top desk with an interior custom designed to fit my needs turned out exactly as expected, PERFECT! This beautiful piece is a wonderful addition to our home and adds to the warmth of my office space. The custom designed interior is as functional for me as it is beautiful. The quality and finish is fantastic! It feels as though this piece has been part of our home forever and I am happy to know that with it's quality, function and beauty, it will be part of our family for generations. Thank you, again, Matt and Mo for another wonderful piece and another wonderful experience!"

"Superior workmanship results in the perfect product. We wanted a
unique mahogany table for a specific corner of our dining room; Matt
and Mo produced even more than we hoped for."

Thank you for the exceptional artistry
beautiful cherry sofa table. I'm very excited about this piece, and can
hardly wait to invite friends and family over for the holidays to show them
this gem. I had done a lot of research to find a suitable table, both at local retailers and on the internet, before I got lucky enough to find your
website.
The service was outstanding. Sending me pictures of the table at various stages of completion only made me more eager to acquire this work of art. The shipping company, too, was great. They contacted me well in advance about the delivery date and time, and were perfectly punctual. They treated my furniture with extreme care, as if it were their
own.
I would not hesitate to make future purchases from Doucette and Wolfe or refer your fine company to others.
Thanks again.

The best! We commissioned handcrafted furniture from three different furniture makers
and our experience with Doucette and Wolfe was absolutely, without question, the best.
While ordering custom-made furniture can be a bit nerve-racking, the entire process, from
initial conversation to final delivery, was most pleasurable. The various updates via email
and Facebook made us feel involved and created a level of excitement as we watched a
matched set of raw tiger maple transform into beautiful pieces of museum-quality furniture.
The chest and nightstand are by far the nicest items in our home. The level of craftsmanship
and attention to detail would make Chippendale, Hepplewhite and Sheraton proud. The only
(high-quality) problem is that once you see the final product in person, you will want to
order more. We cannot thank you enough!

Tiger Maple Chest and Nightstand
Doucette and Wolfe is a unique firm. We found them out of desperation.
We had decided to convert a summer home in New Hampshire to our permanent home, but needed to
upgrade the kitchen, which is contained in a great room. In the process, we started a search for a table
that could serve as an everyday breakfast table and still comfortably allow 6 to eight people for dinner
seating. It had to fit into a tight area with our existing Hitchcock chairs (Natural wood seats, but with
black legs and trim). We replaced the cabinets in our kitchen with dark cherry and cherry became the
dominate theme of the kitchen.
While we had fun looking in antique stores, we could not find an existing table that was narrow enough
(and long enough) to fit our kitchen space. A big problem was leg space, especially at the far ends of the
table, if the table were a traditional four corners.
While on the internet one day we found Doucette and Wolfe, and sent them an email. Since they were
in New Hampshire, we could drive up to Conway (from Lake Winnipesaukee) to meet them and discuss
our needs. This began the process that is well documented in other testimonials. Matt suggested a
trestle table with a solid cherry wood top but with black painted maple legs to match the Hitchcock
chairs. It could be the exact size we needed. Moriah was not available on that first meeting, but it was
reassuring to know that Matt was not going to undertake this alone.
We were able to visit during design and development. There was one false start when the cherry
wood for the top had warped in drying (by the supplier), and could not be smoothed by planning to Matt’s
satisfaction. Moriah joined us on these later meeting, and despite being very small and always cold, she
shares Matt’s drive for developing unique, high quality furniture.
We include some pictures of the final product. Matt and Moriah delivered the table themselves, and
the table far exceeded our expectations. It is exquisite and has already become a family heirloom.
And to top it off, we were presented with a free cutting board, made from the scrape of our wood!

I grew up in the shadows of the Winterthur Museum in Wilmington, Delaware, and have always had a life-long interest in early American furniture. Indeed, as an adult it has become one of the subjects I lecture on and write about. The reason Matt’s furniture looks so right is that it is made the same way as the original antiques. Perhaps he has access to some tools eighteenth-century cabinetmakers would have loved to have, but the structural techniques, proportions, and fine details are all exactly the same. When I was commissioning a piece of furniture from Doucette and Wolfe, I hadn’t anticipated how much fun it would be to follow the building process in the many pictures he sent me; there’s something very exciting about watching what was once just a design take on a concrete form. I recommend this work unreservedly.

What can I say about Doucette and Wolfe Furniture Makers? Amazing! Amazing desk, amazing craftsmanship, amazing customer service. A piece of furniture that will be passed down for generations. We purchased two cutting boards last year and a desk this year. They were awesome to work with. They kept us updated with photos every step of the way as well as telephone contact. They hooked us up with the lumber supplier so we could personally pick out the hardwood for the desk. That made it even more special. We have started planning our next project with Matt and Moriah, a Townsend Goddard highboy. We know that our next project will be as great as this desk has been and my husband and I can't wait.

It is a rare event when you order something custom made and it not only meets your expectations, but exceeds them. Matt Wolfe is an artist and perfectionist which is apparent in every aspect of his work. Although he is creative, he doesn't allow his vision to diminish yours, only to improve upon it. His attention to detail is remarkable and he uses only the finest quality wood available.
We are thrilled with our new night stands and hope to be working with Matt again soon in creating a desk for our home. We couldn't recommend him more highly.

Dear Matt and Moriah,
However, this chest is altogether another magnitude of excellence. The choice of wood, the matching of the wood, and the attention to detail, including rounding of the back of each drawer, so that there are no sharp corners when it is inside the chest (something no one would even see unless they removed the drawer); the very subtle curve at the front of the top of the chest; even the choice of drawer-pulls; is, in my experience, without parallel. It is a flawless work of art.
I have so enjoyed communicating with you. You made a major purchase very easy. All my questions were responded to with fullness and alacrity. In addition, the pricing was very fair, and worth every penny.
Thank you so very much for making this chest. It will surely last for hundreds of years, and be a cherished heirloom for my descendants.

-TESTIMONIAL-
As a custom furniture maker Matthew Wolfe is in a class by himself. And as a team, he and Moriah are delightful, fun, and easy to work with. Matt recently completed this slant top desk commissioned by me for my mother who had just downsized from a large home to a senior living community in the Boston area. Pictures simply cannot portray the quality and attention to detail in this piece. We were simply in awe when it arrived. It is more than just a piece of furniture ... it is a memory. After more than a year on his wait list [he is very much in demand] mom and I drove up to his shop in NH to meet Matt & Moriah in person, see their shop, and inspect some of his current work in progress. From that time forward we participated in the process in a delightful way not anticipated when the desk was commissioned. We worked together on the interior design to come up with something beautiful but functional in this day of computers. Something as inconspicuous as the design for wire handling behind the paper/computer slots was a work of art in itself. Matt emailed us pictures all along the process which kept us involved and engaged. They showed the rough sawn wood arriving, the matching of grains, the building & joinery process, the fine detailed carving, dovetailing, hardware selection, and finishing process, as well as everything else along the way. Notwithstanding all this we were still surprised and amazed at the quality and detail when the piece was delivered. Thank you Matt & Moriah for a great piece and a great experience. – John Cantlin 2015
